Fiction, non-fiction, and poetry reading by Unsolicited Press authors. The past decade has destabilized contemporary gender constructions in a number of important, powerful, and necessary ways. This has required broader, more inclusive, and more emotionally complex and dynamic definitions of contemporary masculinity. As systems change and structures adapt, many of us wonder how we can adequately and ethically write into that complex and inclusive masculinity to create new, honest, and true models of gender identity and performance for male-identifying writers and characters. From memoir to genre and back again, join Jackson Bliss and Tyler James Russell as they read from their forthcoming works, Dream Pop Origami and When Fire Splits the Sky, and discuss the ever-evolving questions they grappled with along the way.
